How to protect hair against chlorine damage?

A swim cap aims to keep your hair within the swim cap to reduce your overall water resistance. While it deters water from entering, it cannot keep 100% of the water out.

Your hair is like a sponge and can absorb water. Before entering the pool, wet your hair with non-pool water and wear your swim cap after. This can prevent chlorine water from being absorbed by your hair during a swim as it is already wet. This protects your hair from chlorine damage.
